Well, the good news is that Deep Quest is practically ready to go again. I'm sure this boat is jinxed, every time it gets to the point where it's ready to get wet something breaks, falls off, or I manage to break something on it.
Anyway, weather and decorating the lounge is now going to hold me up on 'on the water' tests, but at least it may get painted this time round...

And here's the new safety guard over the vertical thruster...not yet glued in as the inside of the prop tube needs to be painted.

Now, if I've done this right, this should be a link to a short piece of video footage of the initial testing of the vertical thruster on Deep Quest.
Apologies for the shakey video, I was trying to hold the camera, press the start button and hold the leads on to the battery, all at the same time.

It would make a mess of a childs finger though...in the video it's only running on around 3.6volts. The battery pack in Deep Quest is 7.2volts...

No mate, never could stop the damn thing leaking. It's under my desk at the moment awaiting the installation of a cylinder instead of a box.

Well, there's interesting..although I'm not supposed to be building boats, I've just had a quick look at the Jelly Bean, and discovered why I was getting that persistent bad leak into the radio box. Somehow when I assembled the propshaft I'd managed to leave the top PTFE bearing out, so the propshaft was just flapping about in the prop tube at the inboard end. Guess that would explain the constant water ingress, huh?
