    My Humble Opinion about grab arms is:can You make them guest a Little Shorter?!,or maybe You should do another sub Little Bigger!!!,like @tattooed suggested:"the grab arms just right rich it's the sub thats to small i think".

    Getting it down the stairs is the easy bit mate...gravity helps out with that. It's the getting the things back UP the stairs that's the hard bit!

    Having studied Colin Gross's "Ross Winans" DSRV build, and remembering the catastrophic failure of my last attempt at a vertical thruster, I just had to have another try.

    This time the tube is made from plastic tubing, the support base is 2.5mm styrene sheet, and the prop is a 35mm 3 blade brass by Raboesch. The idea is to connect it to a smaller motor this time and run it in wet conditions in the flood area in the bow section. Hopefully this time it won't think it's a helicopter...

    Pics show the external view of the work so far...next job is connect the motor to the stub shaft, then complete the electrical connections. I'm hoping I have room to fit an Action Electronics Pico esc to control the thruster motor

    A bit more done to the Deep Quest today...she now has a red flashing LED on the hatch cover and an 8xHiViz LED floodlamp fitted.

    Lights are independently switchable via the radio.

    Also I've added the safety bars across the thruster prop tube. A tiny touch of rubbing down still needed and they are done.

    Hmm...I knew I shouldn't have attempted to do any boat building whilst I felt unwell this morning...maybe I'd have thought about the floodlamp some more.

    It's far too heavy for the little Deep Quest, she just stands on her nose in the water, so it's got to go, I'm afraid. It will be replaced by two 10mm Ultra Brite HiViz clear lens LED's, which I've ordered from The Component Shop just now. These are practically as bright as the floodlamp, but weigh absolutely nothing.

    Onwards and upwards then...the white led's arrived, I duly connected them up, and watched as both of them popped in front of my eyes. I'm now told that I needed to wire a resistor in line with the leds....funny that, because I've never done that before.
    The flashing red led on the Deep Quest and the one on the Neptune have never had resistors in line, and the one on Neptune has been working perfectly well ever since I installed it..six months back, at least. Oh well...order two more leds, good thing they are only cheap.

    I've also made up some guards for the hydroplanes from 2mm thick black styrene sheet(as per Colin Gross's DSRV)and suggested by Nigel Edmonds. These are only just tacked in for the moment whilst I decide if I like the looks of them or not, I'm not sure. I can see that they would save the 'planes from damage if I get a bit close to a wall, but I'm not sure if I like them.

    It looks to me that not only does it add to the looks (In my humble opinion), but the guards would also reduce snagging weeds on the planes.

    Having looked at the hydroplane guards for a day or two, I came to the conclusion that I didn't like them particularly, so I removed, reshaped and reinstalled them.

    Now I'm much happier with the results, to my mind it looks a lot better.

    I don't want to talk about it...

    Suffice it to say that dropping a hot cup of coffee over one's mini submarine doesn't do it much good.

    It's taken me nearly two hours to get it to this stage, and there's another hours worth of work at least to go.
