I just bought an Engel Gato less the WTC accessaries.
Is anyone building this model now?
A friend of mine bought the kit and then found a completed build Gato and decided to sell me the Gato.I got a fabulous deal on price and we will be able to sail in full force.
The WTC box has been epoxied into place but I am cutting and removing it to use a polycarbonate WTC pipe.I am machining a 4" diameter x 3/8" wall thickness X 12" length aluminum tubing for a center position piston ballast tank. The wall thickness will be drilled ala gun rifled with 30 bores length-wise in the center of the wall thickness and an o-ring groove machined on the end-edge outer edge for sealing the polycarbonate tube end to end.The piston drive motor is a brushless motor with a threaded hollow-core shaft for driving the piston rod and the motor is perfectly centered in the polycarbonate tube.I have someone building the digital electronic controller.I am using a Hall's Effect Timken encoder that mounts on the backside of the piston drive motor that accounts for the speed and position of the threaded piston rod.The two ends of the polycarbonate tubes will use the Norbert Bruggen aluminum bajonets.I'm using one Eflite 295KV brushless motor and a 120amp Castle Hydra ESC to drive the two props. The telemetry system will be a Spektrum sensor station with an iPhone plug-in WiFi donlge. This will allow me to check voltage and amps for first-time breakin to make adjustments.
Regards,
Giovanni
