the image you have posted is what i call an R clip they are used to hold rc model car bodys on as well
they may be known as split pins as well

you can use tread lock it is a liquid in a bottle you put a drop onto the tread then do the nut or bolt up then let the tread lock dry job done but you can undo it anytime we use it a lot on model helicopters.

One word of warning,don't get threadlock on polycarbonate it will craze it.

yes, I can confirm this by own experience! It may take some time, but eventually it will happen.
Another method to prevent unscrewing is the use of a piece of thin sheet metal with a hole suitable for the thread bolt and shaped in a form so it can't rotate around the bolt. Impose it over the thread bold to come beneath the nut and after tightening the nut bend one free section of the protuding sheet metal sharp upwards along one suitable edge of the nut.
