Ah, Marius...I've been building model boats for over forty years now, I have loads of stuff like this. Maybe I should start a museum?

Now that looks like a speed controller!

Paralleled up MOSFETs (to get a low resistance) and a nifty heat sink are likely clues?

    Yes David,

this is a speed controller. And furthermore - about 20 years ago I built a similar one of own design, also with relays for reversing and also with paralleled MOSFETs (it still works...).

Never think bad of older devices - although they need more space in general they can be repaired more easyly and th electronic components for repair are less affected from obsolescence than modern highly specialised parts.

    Best regards

Well...here's something I didn't expect. Speedmaster seem to be still in business and still making esc's...I'll make a couple of phone calls tomorrow I think!

    HI,
Can someone restore the wiring diagram of that assembly?(maybe there is someone ho can do that) and a list with components?.
Because I think it can be used again with success.
If the components are cheap and can still be found someone who has knowledge in electronics assembly can recover the device.
