    Hi

    Sat here with my leg in plaster unable to work on the sub .... However I am reading the instructions & making notes & plotting the build.

    The manual suggests a 7 channel r/c my research suggests a FUtaba FC 16 with a twin stick module will do the job.

    Does anyone have any other recommendations?

    Hi Rob,

    Sorry to hear about the leg, but at least you've got plenty of research time to fill.

    You'll not go far wrong with the FC-16 radio, they are expandable via small modules up to gawd knows how many channels, so you can have all sorts of operating features on your boat. I have the F-14 which I use in my Neptune and my Deep Quest, it's comfortable to use (especially when in a tray) it's easy to use and everything feels...right. You know what I mean? Every switch and stick is easy to reach, whether you have big or small hands, there's no stretching of fingers to hit a switch.

    I know a lot of the guys on here use Robbe F series radios, and they can't all be wrong, can they?

    Rob,
    Go for the twin stick so you can control the props independently.
    The turning circle of the U177 is very big,with 1 prop forward and 1 prop in reverse you can improve this.
    I use a Futaba F14
    By the way which diving system did you buy?

    I opted for the Tmax diving system

    Thank you for the advice on the radio - I have another 6 weeks in plaster not weight bearing so the decision does not have to be immediate
