    HI ALL
I have recently been trying transmitting Ariels under water for controlling the sub have designed Ariel for 27MHZ for going in the water a few days ago took all the kit down the canal as it seemed the ideal place to test it. The transmitting Ariel was under water unit i was using to receive signal was a modded CB radio decided to use this because radio had got signal strength meter and you could hear data being received through speaker i first walked away about 100FT and then put receiving Ariel in the water as well signal was end stopped on the signal meter kept walking away and got up to 500FT at this time Ariel was in the air again for RX unit as i walked under the canal bridge the signal dropped down quite a bit but what was interesting was when i put receiving Ariel back in the canal the signal went up to about S9 so for having to travel through 500FT of water it worked well i am not saying that it is perfect but it is a great improvement on what we use now under water, I'm quite sure it would have done 1000FT have got to do the same test with low frequency radio link as this is even better at getting through water as it is low frequency
    All the best sub John

Keep up the good work. This sounds like a real break through.

antenna under water part-2 Empty ANTENNA UNDER WATER

Post  johnrobinson Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:24 pm

    HI David f
Antennas for under water i do seem to be getting some where now, It seems like Richard and Andy are struggling to see the benefits of a lot more range under water with TX Ariel being in the water i can see how it must be hard to grasp but if you think it was traveling through 500FT of water and was a very strong signal being received you guys must admit it has got to say some thing and it would have gone a lot further under water and plus i was not knocking out a lot of RF, but could have turned the power right up.
    All the best John
