I have recently acquired from a friend a fibreglass hull for the Type XVllB. The length of the bare hull is 82 cm and the height 11cm minus conning tower. Quite apart from the slimness of the early Walther’s my first problem is how to remove the fibreglass flange shown in the photos. The hull is in 2 horizontal halves as can be seen and these need to be joined before cutting the access cover. The sparse instructions suggest using a rasp to remove the excess flange but doing this by sanding the 4mm flange away horizontally so that you end up with 2 flush halves that can fit neatly together.
Can anyone suggest an easy way of doing this please?
Suggestions would be appreciated bearing in mind my aversion to fibreglass dust and lack of a vast belt sander!
