The mouldings arrived yesterday, and I will admit to being very surprised at them...both hull and deck are moulded in nice lightweight fibreglass, with plenty of deck detail moulded in, and the twin wintergarten conning tower moulded in styrene.
It should be said here and now that these mouldings are not to scale at all, being more along the lines of a generic model that resembles a WW11 German submarine, Deans do state this on their website. The mouldings seem to be along the lines of the MAP drawing MM471 (HERE) but with added width and breadth.
A 4" cylinder fits inside the hull nicely which should give ample room to install a proper dive system inside.
This will be an over-winter build, and there's plenty to do on it, should keep me busy for a while.
This is the image Deans show on their website, very semi-scale looking...
