Hi everybody,
I'm Nikola and I'm new to this website. I'm building a small water vehicle, just for hobby, and actually I don't have a big culture on the topic. I was looking for ideas about rudders.
My submarine is a sort of underwater catamaran, and I want you guys to know if it’s possible to control the pitch motion (I mean the rotation around the transversal axis of the vehicle) and the roll one (I mean the rotation around the longitudinal axis of the vehicle) just with two rudders, one behind every hull, rotating around an axis parallel to the horizontal plane and normal to the hulls axes.
Then, how can I actuate a rudder? Are there a motor and a reducer to make it rotate, or the rotation is given in another way (linear actuator and transmission)?
Then, if someone is so kind to answer me, I just want you to know which website can I look at to find DC motors, with small dimensions, maybe used in underwater modeling (max 300 mm length), able to reach a power of about 2 kW.
Thanks a lot,
Nikola
