For day to day sailing, I sail at Hailsham Common Pond. It's a small circular village pond, brick edged, concrete bottomed and averages a metre deep. There are two tree covered island in the centre, one side is well planted with pond plants of various species, and there is plenty of seating around the whole area.
There is a resident wildfowl population which tend to ignore model boats, and the water is full of small fish, although angling is not allowed. The water is semi clear, although it can be plagued at times with that horrible green algae which tends to foul propellors.
It's easy access for launching your boat, which is nice for those large boats.
And most importantly, there is plenty of pondside free car parking.
Hailsham is easily reached from the A22 Eastbourne/London road, five minutes from the main road.
