    I've just added a link to the boat's history and her final demise, David...she was sunk after the Uboats surrendered.

    Thanks for showcasing my photos - could I ask you to put a link back to my deviantart dot com site though?

    The wreck is in 65-68m of water off Malin Head, Ireland, and yes, the water there is usually very clear by UK standards.  I took these photos using a tripod and a Canon Powershot S90 on 15sec exposure, typically 2 or 3 identical exposures blended together to mask out other divers who occasionally (somewhat inconsiderately if you ask me!) swam into frame.

    really impressive photographs and what a clear water! Furthermore you can see the decline of a wreck caused by the elements and by time...

    Another scuttled type XXI submarine (the former U2540) was raised and preserved from that fate and can now be seen as a museum ship at Bremerhaven as the last remaining item of that class (after having been commisioned as an research and experimental submarine of the German Federal Navy between 1960 and 1982)
