I've had a complete change of lighting arrangement on the Neptune...instead of being stuck out on that bracket, the searchlight is now mounted inside the nose cone (why didn't I do that before?) It looks so much better like this and reduces the drag effect.

Note the new top deck layout, hatches courtesy of Andy Griggs at Models By Design, with a couple of plastic turn wheels I found in my spares box.

Video is a bit ropey, but it shows the searchlight working and the flashing beacons operating.

Thanks to Ramesh for his detective skills, I now have a proper operating grab arm en route for the Neptune.

Take a look at this website: www.proto-pic.co.uk these guys sell some serious kit if you like your robots.

The claw arm I've ordered is here: http://proto-pic.co.uk/products/Robotic-Claw.html

And this is a diagram of it:

All metal construction, servo operated....and less than a tenner.

Well, the claw has arrived...all bubble wrapped in a plastic box. Very impressed with it and the service from these guys is excellent...48hrs from the time of ordering to the claw landing on my doormat.

Now it's off to my mate Andy in Bristol, he's going to make up an arm and a mounting to attach it to the Neptune, and then we have to fathom out how/where to mount the servo to operate it.

And finally, a picture of a model submersible fitted with a huge operating grab arm, made by a German modeller.
This thing looks as though it could do some serious damage to your nether regions...

It's an alloy of some sort, David...it's light and it's strong, and that's about all I know. When Andy gets hold of it, I've no doubt he'll tell us more.

Neptune with the new periscopes(for want of a better word)fitted. The one with the red top has a clear lens installed and a small white HiViz LED inside it.

The new waterproof lighting switcher made by John Robinson has arrived, this plugs into the rx and allows me to turn the floodlamp/flashing beacons on/off via the tx.

The grab arm should be here by the weekend with a bit of luck.

Thanks to Andy Oakley and John Robinson for their very kind assistance.

And here is the first pic of the grab arm and claw, nearly finished, just a couple of small details to complete.

My grateful thanks to Andy Oakley for all his hard work.
