FrSky is now selling a new "entry level" transmitter in their Taranis family... the "Taranis Q X7"
from what i have been able to read about it, its primary target audience is the entry level "Drone" market, the radio has been designed with a couple switches and knobs that are aimed squarely at the drone racing market...
however, like all the Taranis radios, it uses a standard JR style module for its "external" RF deck, allowing one (such as me) to plug in either a 2.4ghz module, or a 433/458mhz module. In addition to that, it has not been restricted in any other way, it still runs OpenTX, still has the capacity of 16 channels of data transmitted, still allows for FrSky style telemetry to be fed back to the transmitter and displayed on the LCD. still allows you to use third party switches and knobs to expand its functionality.
the good news is:

not sure what hobby re-sellers will be carrying it in europe, but all the basic FrSky distributors will be carrying it.
this basically makes my work i did to "upgrade" a Turnigy 9X moot. (see post 78 in the PIC and Arduino thread)
